Round 1 of the Pirelli Motul Victorian Road Racing Championships kicked off at the iconic Phillip Island Circuit on the weekend, a great way to kick off a highly anticipated 2025 season!
In near perfect conditions, Jackson raced on board his Honda RS85cc with the two-stroke engine giving all its might down Gardner Straight.
In a class combined with several junior riders on board 150cc four-stroke engines, Jackson locked in as fastest qualifier with a personal best performance. Across the three races, Jackson on each occasion continued to chip away at his lap times and etched even closer to the Phillip Island lap record, finishing the weekend with a 2:01.380 and three race wins.
On reflection Jackson said “I loved riding here this weekend. The trouble with the clutch on Friday meant I had very little time on the track before qualifying on Saturday which was a bit disappointing, I just wanted to get out and ride!’
He went on to add ‘We were lucky to have some parts to get me back on track, I really grateful we had some spares.’
‘The bike was strong, and I dropped my lap times by several seconds. I wanted to break the 2-minute lap, but the handling started to let me down a little bit in turns 2,3, 6 and 7. Overall, I am happy with my speed and the bike is super-fun to ride!”
We are now in preparations for the build of his new race bike in Spain, in readiness to compete in the MIR Spanish Championship.
