🔥 Jerez – what a weekend! 💪🏼
Race day at Round 3 of the MIR Finetwork Texking Series is a wrap, and what a weekend it was for Jackson.
Jackson rode free practice on Saturday, with the qualifying session first on the schedule on Sunday. This meant he had to dig deep as there was not much time separating the riders outside the top five.
Into the pace quick smart, Jackson had a target to reach after a small adjustment was made to the set up overnight to accommodate his fastest pace. Qualifying wrapped up with Jackson sitting 14th on the grid, achieving his goal of the 2:08 bracket, with a 2:08.742 – only 0.7 of a second separating the riders in qualifying positions 9-14.
Remembering, that in October last year Jackson qualified at Jerez with a 2:19 and was on the grid…now that’s an improvement and that’s what we are here for!
Race 1 came around quickly, and the start was key. Jackson launched like a rocket, but was dive-bombed through turn one, dropping him down to 19th in the early stages. Jackson knuckled down and chipped away, climbing back to a solid 13th position.
Race 2 was an absolute battle from start to finish between a group of four, passing back and forth. Jackson set a new PB, dropping into a 2:08.1 by lap three finishing in 14th with only 0.5 separating 11-14th positions.
Glenn has shared that this was so far, the most progressive and successful round of racing. The intel on bike from Jackson, the performance of the bike, achieving lap time goals, to passing and line choices, grit and determination all resulted in an extremely positive weekend all-round.
Unofficially, Jackson now sits 13th in the series. The schedule will now see a fortnight of training and readiness for Round 4 of the series at Alcarras before heading back home to Australia.
