It was a tough one! Although there were many challenges, we were also surrounded by positivity and friendship.
Jackson’s race day at Fortuna did not see the resolution of the persisting mechanical issues, but it was all hands on deck to get Jackson on the grid. Just when hopes were dashed, the pit gate opened to allow Jackson through to the start line in R1. However, there was a major vibration, and the result was simply a safe finish and a broken engine mount to repair.
In R2, a red flag incident mid-race required a restart, but by this time, Jackson was unable to regain his usual form. Again, Jackson finished uninjured but was emotionally drained by the rollercoaster events and his inability to ride as he knew he could.
Despite the circumstances, ultimately ‘that’s racing!’ There are off-days mechanically, or as a rider – sometimes a combination of both.
The team at MIR Racing has an incredible inventory and the rider support is fantastic. Glenn would like to make a special mention and thank Jorker personally for his unwavering support towards Jackson and all the children in the paddock.
Also, we had @gaman.racing.official working behind the scenes. To the De Vries family Thijs, Luuk, and Alain thank you for your amazing support, and we are just so grateful to have had this opportunity.
The boys have spent some time relaxing and will miss some of the scheduled training this week. Instead, they have visited the new MIR Racing circuit and Impormotor, they have also relaxed on the beach of Alicante as they camped out in the back of the hire van.
The team at MIR has Jackson’s bike and are reviewing it top-to-bottom in readiness for the next round of racing.
Thank you to all who provided support and encouragement.
Jacko will be back on the track soon.
